Trip Report

Winter Scramble - Natapoc Mountain

A nice destination when conditions are bad elsewhere

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Compact snow on the road and trail for much of the trip.  Snowshoes not 100% required, but it makes walking easier.

We parked under the power lines at a wide pullout on Highway 207.  This seems to avoid to the issue with the private road mentioned in the trip description.  From the pullout, walk up the power line to the road, then follow that road to the ridge, where the road turns into a trail, and is eventually lost.  There are good views on the road and the ridge, although the summit itself is tree covered (make sure to go all the way to the southern summit).

This is an easy scramble, could be led as a snowshoe trip.  About 8.5 miles, 2400' elevation gain, in about 6 hours at a moderate pace.
