Winter Scramble - Mount Si Old Trail

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • Temperatures near freezing from the parking lot on up.  Very little precipitation and what fell was dry, powdery snow.  The popularity of this trail has developed a nice solid base of compact hard snow. 

Great crampon conditions starting at ~2000' all the way to the benches below the haystack.   Several practice sessions on the way up, including the one about proper fit when putting them on.  Total time was ~6.5 hours with 3.5 up and 2.5 down.
