Trip Report

Urban Walk - Chambers Bay Regional Park

4.2mi extended loop of Chambers Bay adding in the East Slope Trail in additional to the Soundview and Grandview trails.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The route is completely paved and in good condition. There were two street crossings, one of which is minor. There were no hazards on the route.

alk about a beautiful day for this trail! Our group of Mountaineers arrived at 8:45am to blue skies and a little bit of fog obscuring the Olympics. The parking lot near the playground was pretty open at that point.

I was leading an urban walk and chose an extended version of the loop. We went clockwise along the top of the golf course, then took the East Slope Trail down about half a mile before heading back up and then down the steep hill to the Central Meadow for a snack and bathroom break. We headed out to the end of the pedestrian bridge (complete with train running by!), then finished up the loop through the golf course and back up the hill to the North Meadow.

There were plenty of people around, but it wasn’t super crowded. The views were spectacular! The trail is totally paved and always in good condition. Highly recommend this loop! All told, we did 4.2mi and 407ft of elevation and finished in just under 2 hours.
