Urban Walk - Bridle Trails State Park

Nice winter hike on the 'horse' trails. We focused on the less traveled trails.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • All trails are in good shape, with little to no standing water. Some areas had small trees or brush crossing the trail that we could easily walk over or around.   The side trails, which are mainly used for horseback riding, tend to have more roots than the smooth trails of Raven, Cayote, and Trillium.   Horse poop is a given.

We had a group of seven Urban Walkers who decided to explore the side trails. We arrived at 8:30 am, and the gate was already open. To our delight, the bathrooms were spotless! Upon meeting the park ranger, he informed us that approximately 28 horse trailers were expected to arrive around 10 am for their annual horse ride through the park. He kindly assisted us in finding more suitable parking in the lot, ensuring that our cars could easily exit and avoid any potential interference from the horse trailers.
