Unicorn Peak/South Side

Excellent day out! Hiked all the way to snow lake and saw many wildflowers. Stayed left on first gully up talus. At second gully we scrambled up the notch on wet rock and decided we would rappel from nearby slung trees on way down. At Unicorn, we found a large group of Mazama climbers (Wednesday! Surprise!). They wore crampons up the 2nd gully, but we did not.Suceesful summit. On our cescent, a rappel down the rock to the second gully took way too much time, and I had to climb up again to release rope stuck in branches. In hindsight, we could have downclimbed a different area. Overall a fine day out. About 9 hours.
