5 miles of dirt road to TH. Road in good condition. Beautiful cool fall day.
Lovely cool fall day took the Jr Mac and explorers up to Tinkham Peak. We started at mirror lake TH and took the PCT right before mirror lake. Youth had lots of fun catching frogs in the tarn before the turn off to Silver Peak. Half way up Silver Peak we took a break when turning off to Tinkham. Some youth saw Tinkham and were a little nervous. We took an hour slowly moving up to Tinkham. Kids are natural scramblers. At the top scramble part was rock and some youth spoke a little concerned about the exposure but were able to successfully scramble up. Youth claimed it was a type 2 fun. Heading to the next peak was pretty easy. Heading down took awhile as the youths ankles and thighs were hurting a little. I would suggest next time having extra poles for the way down is helpful, it is steep in sections. Youth played at the waterfall on the other side of mirror lake. Then we hiked home. At mirror lake we could see Tinkham and where we came from. We also discussed how some youths were not thinking it was something they could do, and how proud they were that they accomplished the scramble, they worked hard and faced some fears. Great day!
