Summit Lake

  • Summit Lake
  • Day Hiking

Typically forest service road leading to the trailhead. Some areas are experiencing more erosion then areas. Slower drive than most, but manageable with moderate clearance vehicles. I seen a Dodge Magunum wagon at the trailhead to give an example. The trail is in decent condition. Expect to encounter snow on the approach to twin lake, but the lake is 95% melted out. Continue upwards and as turn to transvere to summit lake within the forest cover is ice patches. Solid snow begins around 1/3 mile from the lake. Lake is melting, only isolated patches, still covered in ice and snow. Beautiful time to go is now before the snow melts. Approached lake in boots, but used snowshoes on the way out to speed up the journey. Enjoy.
