Trip Report

South Early Winter Spire/South Arête

Climbed SEWS on Sunday 20th July.
Left cars at 6.10 am, arrived at the base of the climb at 7.30 am. We did the climb as 2 pitches and left racks and most ropes at the top of the chimney. Scrambled to the whale-back were I set up a handline and everyone came across using their PA and 2 locking biners. Then Scrambled to the summit, at the summit just after 11 am. Spent almost an hour on the summit before retracing our steps. We added a extra rappel, making it 3 rappels in total. Back at the base of the climb at 1.30 am and back at the cars at 3 pm. 4 rope teams took 9 h car to car.
