Snoqualmie River (Middle Fork - Middle Middle): Concrete Bridge to Tanner

At 1,200 CFS with sunny deep blue skies and 75 degrees, this was the ideal day on the Middle Middle. Very fun after work pre-dinner float. The big holes, Cookie Monster and Meteor, were not in play at this level.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • We put in at Mine Creek, surfed a little at the mid-stream boulder there, then headed down river. A-Frame was start right, make a right to left move, get in the wave train on left, and avoid the large protruding boulder at the bottom of the wave train in the center.  Next up, at Surprise Rapid the Cookie Monster hole did not develop at this flow and the pillow was easily avoided left or right.  Further, Meteor was probably the trickiest maneuvering  of the run, and required right to center to right and avoiding a fairly big ledge. Before you know it we were at the lead in to House Rocks. The river is wide here and many boulders. I took the easy lines down, but many lines would have worked.  I'm told bigger holes develop with higher water, and at lower water is so boney the difficulty level increases. Our float time was 1 hour 37 minutes, which included a lot of play time.
