  • Scrambling

4/24/16. Student scramble on the first weekend after Crystal Mountain Ski Resort closed for the season. We parked at the ski lodge and went up some of the ski runs. We practiced self arrest, walking in balance, kicking steps, plunge stepping and glissading. Weather was typical: intermittent rain showers, snow showers, and sun showers. With lots of teaching breaks, it took us 4.5 hours to reach the summit. The descent involved several long, wonderful glissades, which the students loved so much that they marched back up to do them again. One was more than 400 vertical feet. Topping off a great day, everyone loved the Thai Bangkok in Enumclaw for dinner.
