Nice, uncrowded hike and a good workout.

  • Successful
  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail is in great shape all the way up, no hazards.  No water available on route.  A few huckleberries left on the upper slopes for tasty picking, but disappearing fast.

Actual trailhead is several yards down the road from a pull-out where you can park and on the other side of the road.  An obvious sign marks it but you'll see it only if you arrive via hwy 12.  Excellent hike through beautiful mixed growth trees.  Cool, partly cloudy morning, nice in and out sunshine on the summit, light chilly breeze.  Not many wildflowers left, just a few paintbrush, lupine, pearly everlastings, and a couple of mushrooms.  Very fun group, had a great time!
