Shoreview & Boeing Creek Parks
Hoping to dodge rain (and succeeding) I took my dog for a solo 4.2 mile "nubian" ramble (long ears showing loops on my track) all around and through Shoreview and Boeing Creek for just under 2 hours. We had 14 bird species and the only ones out were dog walkers.

The trails in this park are in decent shape, especially near the dog park where there have been a ton of changes since I last visited in May 2025. Restrooms are open, park is clean, and if you want some variety there is plenty to be had at this Shoreline park.
We parked on the street at the northeast-most corner of the park and rambled everywhere I could think to explore.
The only "trail" that needs some serious help is the one that is down by the river. Stepping stones by Earthworks are great for getting across the stream, but then you either have to scramble steeply up the eroding bank or make your way along a very narrow trail that is succumbing to the eroding stream. We traveled counter-clockwise this trip vs. clockwise which I think was a mistake. From the picture above you can see there USED to be a boardwalk but perhaps the city is letting the stream reclaim it.
My dog and I arrived around 10:35 and spent just under 2 hours enjoying the peace and solitude of the park. The tennis courts were all wet, so we didn't have to deal with the "thwock, thwock" of tennis players. At the dog park where I let my pup off leash, for a few minutes, there were perhaps half a dozen dogs. When one of the bigger dogs put his paw on my dog (he hates that) we left to continue our walk. The dog park now has a larger "small dogs" area and a raised walkway to keep humans out of the mud. Nice addition. And tons of water for your dogs.
Mushrooms are out in force, though almost past their prime (soggy looking) and TONS of downed leaves cover all the trails, including the boardwalk accessing what was Hidden Lake. Amazing how that area has grown in foliage since removing the lake. Our trip was 4.2 miles in about 1:50, and of 14 bird species we heard or saw, the most unusual for the area was a raven.
