Conditions were calm and clear all day. Concern about fog completely dissipated by the time we arrived at the launch coordinates on Guemes Island.
We met up at the Guemes Ferry parking lot in Anacortes at 8am and consolidated boats to take fewer cars across.
Our fearless leader, Felicia!

Lining up for the 8:30 ferry.

Shyril, Jeremy and Todd look ready to hit the water!

Windy.com forecasted fog most of the day but it burned off before we even got to the island

A small ferry by Washington standards but very efficient.

Readying for launch at Young's Park, named after a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Felicia goes over the plan.

Cisca with Jack Island in the background.
Jeremy with the high part of Guemes in the background, as well as Saddlebag and Hat islands off in the distance behind his bow.

Todd, Vendovi behind him and the bulk of Lummi Island behind his stern.

Shyril and Alia.

Jenny at right with Lummi and Vendovi beyond in the distance.

Orcas Island is to the left beyond Cisca. Proceeding to the right there is distant Saturna Island (a very flat and faint Canadian island in the far distance), then Sucia, Barnes, Clark, Matia, and Puffin Rock all clumped together. Pathos is behind Sucia and not visible in this shot.

Rounding the northwest end of Vendovi prior to landing at the harbor there.

Approaching the protected harbor on Vendovi, the only permitted landing spot on the island.

Sue sports her flashy new red hatch covers.

Breaking for lunch before heading out on a hike.

First, a visit to the cemetery.

Into the woods.

At the southern viewpoint we got some stunning panoramas.

The Vendovi Eleven.

Heading back to Guemes.

Apres paddle briefing. Everyone had a great time. Fine weather, beautiful views, and a fun 2 mile hike. Things to improve: throw in some Killer Whales next time!
