The wind and tide were favorable for the first half of the paddle down to Devils Head. After lunch we had a moderate headwind at first until we got north of Pitt Island. The weather was cloudy in the morning and then mostly sunny in the afternoon.

Everyone arrived early at the Heron ferry landing and we quickly dropped gear and boats and moved 3 cars over to the ramp at Home. This shuttle is only about 4 miles and the round trip is only about 15 minutes. We got on the water at about 9:05 and made great time with a following wind down to Joemma Beach where we took our first break.
After break we continued south along the coast and stopped for lunch at the lagoon on the southwest side of Devils Head. This shoreline and around the head is owned by Pierce County Parks and is a great and beautiful place to stop at.
After lunch we rounded the head and paddled into a moderate headwind and stopped for another break at McDermott Point Preserve - another beautiful spot just outside Filucy Bay. From McDermott Point we headed straight into Pit Passage, using the ebb current to help offset the headwind.
We made our final stop under the high bank on the south side of South Head. At the lower tide, this is a nice sandy beach, but at high tide is is gravel and there would not be much beach.
The wind had died down and the sun came out for the last leg into Home, making for a pleasant end to a great trip around Key Peninsula.
