Sea Kayak - Hood Canal

This trip was a leisurely 11 nm paddle with pleasant, warm weather and light and variable winds. Great kayak conditions, especially for this one-way itinerary.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Conditions were very favorable.  Winds are the main factor in Hood Canal in trip planning.  This trip did not entail a crossing, so the main consideration was whether we would encounter excessive headwinds to impede progress.  Winds were light and variable.

Stavis Bay is especially scenic.  And on a building flood, you actually have an eddy to play in, at the mouth of the lagoon.
