Scarface/Grand Park Traverse

Trip Date: 5/9/2015
Miles: 8
Elevatain gain: 2600
Time: 6 1/2 hours

We had very nice weather for this scramble. From the Lake Eleanor trailhead, we hiked past the lake. Upon reaching the east ridge of Scarface we headed up the ridge. Numerous blowdowns en route. We avoided two cliff bands on the left, and chose to scramble up one of them to reach one of the false summits with excellent views. Summit of Scarface mainly has views to the north. After the summit, we headed down the south ridge, aiming for Grand Park. Left the ridge too early and ended up hitting the trail about 400' feet and 1/2 mile short of Grand Park. We followed the trail into Grand Park where we ate lunch. Grand Park is still snow covered, but snowshoes are not needed. Other parts of the trail were very muddy.
