Sasse Mountain (winter)

2/13/15 Due to the unseasonably low snow levels, we chose to climb peak 5722 south of Red (Cle Elum) a few miles farther up the road than Sasse. Red starts a few hundred feet higher and ends a few hundred feet higher, and so we thought it might have slightly more snow. We had a glorious day, with blue sky and warm weather. We started up the ridge toward 5703, but ended up going north one ridge and climbing 5722 instead. The snow depth low on the mountain was only about a foot or two; it wasn't enough to cover the brush but deep enough to posthole. The going was slow until we reached about 5000 feet.
