Northern California Redwood National and State Parks. Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park: James Irvine-Miners Ridge Loop
Distance: 7.4 miles. Elevation: 1180'. James Irvine - Miners Ridge trails lollipop loop in clockwise direction from Prairie Creek Visitor Center.

Well-maintained, muddy and slippery in a rainstorm.
This hike took us through a lush ancient redwoods forest, where we experienced cathedral groves, tree circles, and a profusion of ferns.
From the Prairie Creek Visitor Center, follow the James Irvine Trail above marshy lowlands alongside Godwood Creek. Stay left to Miners Ridge Trail which then continues to Clintonia Trail to do this loop in clockwise direction.
Some plants we encountered: Andrew's Clintonia (on its namesake Clintonia Trail), Deer and Maidenhair Ferns, Skunk Cabbage.
