Naturalist Trip - Montlake Fill (Union Bay Natural Area

A great day for birding the Montlake Fill. Many of the wintering ducks have gone and some of the returning songbirds have appeared. No Osprey, Turkey Vultures, nor Rufous Hummingbirds today.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • No concerns with conditions.  This is a city park and accessed by paved city streets.

10 Mountaineer Naturalists enjoyed a break in the rainy weather for a nice early Spring day exploring the birds and flowers of the Montlake Fill.

38 species of birds and quite a few flowers - Red Flowering Currant, Salmonberry, Oregon Grape.  

Weather was mostly overcast clouds with temps ranging from 42-58 F.   Light-gentle breezes.  Wind direction:  N-E.  Cloud cover was 100%.  Humidity was 55-93%.
