Mount Zion

Short, sweet trail with a reputation of being an amazing rhododendron trail in spring.

  • Road rough but passable
  • Beautiful sunny day spent exploring the new-to-me Mount Zion trail.  The road is is extremely heavily potholed with very deep holes.  My Subaru handled it well but needed to keep it extremely slow.  High clearance vehicle recommended.

very little snow and ice on the upper areas of the road, but that presented no problems.

The trail head parking is in very good shape, although someone had parked right in of the privy and - even though it is open and had a garbage can in it, they had left a pile of garbage and feces right next to where they had parked.  Seriously.  Do better!  We picked up as much as possible.

We were the only vehicle I the parking lot and saw not another person on the beautiful, sunny day.

The trail itself is in great shape with beautiful peak a boo viewpoints of Mount Townsend on the Olympic range.  It is a trail I look forward to repeating in the spring.
