Used same route for ascent (5 hrs) and descent (3 hrs) on 3/14/2015 (pi day). Followed boundary trail to ~4200' before heading east along ridge crest to just below steeper rise at ~4600'. Due to scarce snow (and excessive uncovered amounts of brush in basin west of point 5614) we opted to leave the ridge crest at this point. Traversed north at ~4500' until able to round corner into basin and ascend to ~4800' (the lower boundary of a very nasty vine alder/maple infestation, vegetation suitable for a future Olympic Games Bushwacking Event). Traversed left/north below this brush until able to ascend east and a bit to the right to ~5100' where we glimpsed above us and to the left the open terrain of the meadow at ~5250'. First snow patches encountered in this meadow with lots of bare ground between here and the summit (included a bit of rock scrambling on slabs, hard to believe for mid-March). Did not use our crampons, but some of the snow was pretty hard. Rained the entire day with little wind except for gusts near the summit.
