  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Both gates are open, first one by hwy 101 and second that allows people to drive to the top. We parked at the parking area by trail up start. No bathroom facilities, please LNT!

National park pass or Forest pass required.

Trail up is in good shape, I recommend hiking poles. It's a good workout. Usual cloudy top at view point so no views. Bring layers if it's cloudy at top you get cold for trip down.

Past first view point there are pit toilets at the second viewpoint road. No water on this trail so carry enough for you.

Rhodies are just now starting to bloom, should be great in a few more weeks. Saw a fairy slipper when I took a short water break. Few trilliums on way down.

We did this as a loop, trail up and to save our knees road down. The trail up is about 2 miles, road down closer to 4 miles but views of Penney Creek mine.

This is an amazing hike with views on a clear day. If you want a good conditioner this is it. Being Mom's day we stopped at the Whitney Nursery on the way home, it was worth a stop if you are looking for plants and they have some native plants as well!
