  • There are quite a few trees down over the trails and ridges - all were pretty easy to get around.  There was snow above 4200' on Teneriffe.  The snow was not deep, but it had refrozen and was icy in spots - I used microspikes.  The ridges between Teneriffe, Dixie and Blowdown all had snow - up to a foot in places.  No one had been to Blowdown recently, so some route finding was necessary to get back to the Teneriffe Trail.

A Tuesday hike to Teneriffe via the Falls and Kamikaze Trails. Great 360-degree views from the top.  A bit too windy to eat lunch at the summit so I dropped down a short way to eat.

I followed the ridgeline boot path over to Dixie Peak.  This is a bit scrambly but felt safe the whole time.  The views from Dixie are also nice.

From Dixie I again followed the ridgeline to Blowdown.  This part had not been traveled recently and had deeper (but not very deep) snow on it.  Blowdown is forested so there are no views.  The high point is a stump in the woods and is ENE from the point marked on the GAIA topo.

The route down from Blowdown to the Teneriffe trail is an old overgrown logging road.  I followed bobcat tracks in the snow most of the way to the trail junction (animals seem to know the easiest path!).

Overall, a great day in the mountains. Trip was exactly 8 hours (including lunch).  11.55 miles and 4300' of gain.
