Mount Si Main Trail

1/1/15 New Year's Day

Our group of six left the trailhead at 8:35 am. The snow line started at about 2500 feet and we all put on traction shortly after that due to the snow being compacted and slick with ice spots from prior hikers travel. It was a little dicey ascending the concrete steps, but we had no issues. We ate lunch sitting in the snow with the sun shining down. Clear sky gave us views of Mt. Rainier to the South and Bellevue, Seattle and the Olympics to the West. Temperature was 34 with an occasional 5 mph breeze. On our way down we passed many, many hikers going up, most of whom looked much unprepared. Returned back at the trailhead and our cars at 2:00 pm. No issues.
