Mount Rainier/Emmons Glacier

Successful three day climb on Emmons route. Summit day Aug 1. The route is pretty straightforward. High snow levels for early August. As Jan says above, some snow bridges softening, but fewer problematic crevasse crossings that I normally expect to find on the route this time of year. At the Schrund, the track goes R just a little, then up 15' of steep ice to gain the last steep slopes at ca. 13,4. We belayed students down that portion. Transition from Camp Curtis onto the Emmons at Steamboat Prow much shorter and easier than normal.
