A great workout with a few views on 1/16/16 in spite of a marginal forecast. This ~10 mile and ~3600' elevation gain trip (due to 200' loss and regain over the bump 4952') is one of those easy-to-drive-to Winter Scramble destinations that involves no mountain passes with only low altitude driving until the last bit of up to reach Longmire (2760'). As it starts from Longmire it also allows all daylight hours to be utilized (no wait for the Paradise gate to open) as well as heated restrooms. Conditions were very damp due to tree drip (little rain) until ~5000' where we had sub-freezing temperatures for the last mile. These temperatures and associated low humidity allowed us to dry out and be quite comfortable for the last 1000' of gain to the summit. Total trip time was just under 8 hours.
