Mailbox Peak (winter)

The upper road is closed from pretty early on. The lower road gets you to Valley camp, just a 5 min walk from the old trail head. Not clear why the road is closed. The restrooms at the new parking lot were open.

The trail was mostly dry, no snow until the last 30ft of trail. Later summer conditions in January.

We took the old trail up, the new trail down. It took us about as long for the way up as for the way down. No shortage of switchbacks on the new trail.
