Trip Report

Lake Wenatchee South Park Area

We became very proficient in taking our skis off and on. Very thin coverage and frequent brown spots. The snow became very soft and slushy in the afternoon. We did ski and had a great time.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The groomer had been out that morning but the coverage was so thin that many places were browned out the entire width of the trail.  We did still ski all the trails.  Between road crossings and walking across bare spots we must have taken our skis off 30 times.  There was alot of organic matter in the trail and very few pristine white sections of trail.  Kahler Glen had much better conditions but very soft. IMG_0218.jpg

Below is one of the worst and longest bare spots we walked over. This is the connector trail from Kahler Glen to South Lake trails behind the maintenance barn on the west end at the bottom of the hill where we do hill practice for the course. IMG_0221.jpg

It rained the next day fairly heavily. Conditions must be terrible until a major snowstorm arrives. It will take at least two snowstorms to build up enough base.

The conditions at North Lake on the upper deck were fine - solid white.  Down by the river and lake is bad but if you stay on the upper main line and the two campground loops the conditions are quite good.
