Weather and other conditions were Excellent for this trip. We took the PCT up to and past the turnoff for the standard route to the peak at about 5400'. We proceeded about another half mile along the PCT and ascended the north ridge of Kendall back south towards the peak. Along with the several snow patches we traversed on the way up, we found a pretty large snowfield on the northeast side of the ridge. We made sure our one student ascended this snowfield and all the others on the way up so he could get snow credit. On this route, when we got near the summit block, we traversed on the west side, which made it a bit more sporting and required some extra route finding. This enabled us to intersect the standard route up from the trail. It also added about a mile to the trip and a couple of hundred vertical feet. I would do the route again, as it was more interesting than the standard route. This scramble can be counted by the student for either snow or rock credit. Stats were 3000' gain, 11 miles round-trip, and 8.0 hours.
