Intermediate Alpine Climb - Mount Adams/Adams Glacier

Fun climb, no crowds.

  • Road rough but passable
  • High clearance helps on the way to the Killen Creek TH.

    Contrast:

July '17 camp was at Lake 7,505, which made for a nice water supply.  On the climb, at ~11,000 we went right towards the West Summit to finish the glacier; from there it was a long slog to the summit.

June '19 and no Lake 7,505 to be found.    We were split on whether the lake needed snowmelt to refill, or whether it was gone for good.  On the climb, at ~11,000 and after a fair amount of exploring, we found the path to the right to be impassable.  We descended back down and caught the west facing slope for what ended up being an easier way to finish the climb anyway.  But easy was not the point so it was disappointing to find the upper glacier so decimated.

Everyone did a great job and everyone had fun.
