Trip Report

Ingalls Peak/South Ridge

Climb on 7/12/2014. We moved this climb from Sun to Sat because of T-storms forecast for Sun. We had beautiful weather all day, never needed to put on a second layer. We started hiking at 5AM so we were the first party on the rock. The trail was covered by snow for a half mile on the north side of Ingalls pass but the rest was clear to the lake. Ingalls lake is still mostly covered by ice, but is melting fast. From the lake we scrambled up the slabs to the left and then used crampons to ascend the snow to the base of the climb. On the descent we used crampons on snow all the way down to Ingalls lake. We found that all rappels can be done with a single 70 m rope, a 60m rope would require down climbing or an intermediate anchor.
