Trip Report

Ingalls Peak/South Peak

July 5, 2014: Snow conditions were very low and poor. The snow wall on the north side
of the summit was steep, icy, and shallow over the rocks. The alternate route up through the slabs was also wet. Since the north decent looked ugly, we opted to try coming down the easy looking rock gully on the south ridge from the summit. While the group was successful coming down this gully, there are at least two fairly tricky scramble moves with about 6-7 ft of exposure for each. Several of us required spotting and coaching to get down over these spots. There is clearly no way up along this route but it may be a decent alternative down if the north snow wall is as ugly as it was for us.
