From the parking lot for the Overlook, followed a bearing of about 300 for a couple of hundred vertical, then turned a big slab on the left, continued up and then right up a gully and intersected the ridge at 7000', near a small radio or communications tower. from there we followed the ridge to the false summit, where the leader found he was having heat exhaustion. The asst leader and students all had lost their enthusiasm for going to the summit. Temperature was close to 80. Made a bad choice to descend down the long scree-talus slope, then got into a brush fight to get back to the parking lot. This climb is probably best done in early season when most of the ascent and descent would be on snow.
