We had a fun day. We went up the "Tom Cushing" route - we went up the Rachel Lake trail about half a mile, then headed north and northwest to the large plateau between Hibox and Lowbox, then started up the ridge toward Hibox. The plateau was gorgeous, with lots of snow, cliffs, blue sky, and surrounded by majestic mountains. Unfortunately, one member of the party had forgotten their ice ax, so we had agreed that we would turn around short of the summit when the snow got sufficiently steep and when there was too much exposure. We turned around at about 5700 elevation.
