Hawkins Mountain

5/23 Car key exchange traverse hike worked out well. In this very low snow year, just a few patches of snow on south ridge to false summit coming from Salmon La Sac, and several hundred feet of loose scree before hitting snow descending into the basin, so we elected not to glissade. Easy to follow 4WD road from 5900' to Gallagher Head Lake. Summit register from 2003 getting full but very dry. Bald eagle rode thermal from below in valley as we sat on summit. About 9 hours including nearly an hour on a summit.
