- Sailing
This was a perfect April day for a sail. Sunny and 70 degrees with a north wind that started out weak and built to a steady 7-8 knots. The first half of the sail went great as we practiced tacking, jibing and advanced sail trim. Then we got too close to a 5 knot flood current at the mouth of Tacoma Narrows... We spent the next three hours short-tacking the Gig Harbor shore waiting for the current to abate enough to let us go home. I think students got a good understanding of tidal currents in Puget Sound.
