Glacier Climb - Mount Shuksan/Sulphide Glacier

Quick two day climb of an amazing icon of ours. Mount Shuksan always is a pleasure.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Shannon Ridge trail to the ridge is mostly snow free and in good conditions, with a little bit of it washed out. Someone has left pink marker ribbon in some of the trees. Trail after gaining the ridge is under snow with a pretty good boot pack all the way to camps. The camp at 6500 has a small snowpack stream, just to the right of the location of the privy, down in a gully. The privy is dug out and snow free. All snow from camp to base of Shuksan with little to no crevasses to navigate. There is navigable snow in the South gully almost all the way to the top, but will be melting out soon. South Rib and last 50-75 feet of summit block are snow free.

Left Trailhead at 8:40 - Arrived in camp (6500) at 1340
Left Camp 0130 - Summit at 0530 (Snow was in good condition, yet still a little slushy, between 6500 - 8000 due to higher temps

Plan or even coordinated with other teams on the mountain about times,  as traffic jams and bottle necks are the word of the week.
