The trail is well maintained and we only ran into a few people on the HS trail. There was not any blow downs on the trail, no mud, and water crossings had bridges over them. The trail is a steady climb for the most part. It was a mildly cloudy day so the views were pretty good, with a peek-a-boo view of Rainier above the clouds. No horses or paragliders were around.
I learned a valuable lesson today about traffic conditions in this area of Issaquah. Do not set this trip up for 8 AM on a weekday. i come from the south sound, it took me as long to drive the final 7 miles on Hobart Rd from Hwy 18 as it did the previous 42 miles. The trailhead parking lot near the Issaquah Sportsmen's Club was completely full, as was the small parking lot south of the HS. An alternative parking area was found at the Issaquah Community Center as well as open bathrooms.
