The road to Graves Creek trail head is full of potholes, but passable. Th trail up to the chalet is in very good shape. There are a couple of blown down trees that are easy to get around. Several new bridges have been added. The chalet is very close to river edge. The trail trail past the chalet has not been maintained much and there are more blowdowns. On Memorial Day weekend, the trail was absolutely packed, but we managed to find a nice secluded campsite by the river. It rained off again and on again for two days. An overnight permit is required by the park service. We saw lots of bear scat and sign and sign of elk is everywhere. We saw two groups of elk.
