Denny Mountain - Snow Scramble
Bluebird day snow ascent of Denny Mountain with firm snow conditions down low and softening snow higher up. Snowshoes + ice axe. Generally stable snowpack.

Started at 7:50am. There is still a good amount of snow. It begins as patchy coverage, but consistent snow starts about halfway up the Armstrong Express (~4000 ft).
In the shade, the snow was firm and easy to travel on. By the time I reached the top of the lift, it was softening, and I started to posthole in a few spots. So, I switched to snowshoes from there.
Navigation was straightforward. Just keep an eye out for streams and potential snow bridges. Overall, the snowpack looked stable, and I didn’t see any signs of recent avalanche activity.
Reached the summit ~10:30am. See the photo below for the route I took to the summit block.
On the way down, I didn’t use snowshoes—mostly just plunge stepping, with a few short glissades.
