Denny Mountain

Scant but firm snow on lower mountain. Some used microspikes. Soft in upper basin on warm, sunny day. We explored route through notch to climber's left of upper chairlift, but it was not promising. We returned to upper left, climbed up to headwall, traversed left on ledges with 2' of snow in places, past cable, then up last partially snow covered slab to summit. Some glissade opportunities on descent, avoiding rocks and melted-out creek. Would rate this T4 or T5 with these conditions. Ski season is clearly over based on the brush poking through Alpental's runs.
