Day Hike - Wonderland Trail: Longmire to Narada Falls

We made our first trip of the year to Mt Rainier for this scenic hike to three waterfalls. The weather was good, the crowds were manageable and the snow was mostly gone.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • The section of the Wonderland trail from Longmire to Narada Falls was in good shape.  There were patches of snow on the trail from Paradise River Camp up to Narada Falls. 

The group started from Longmire at 8:00 and had the trail to ourselves all the way to Cougar Rock. There were a few other hiking groups from that point up to Narada Falls.  The water was high making for quite a show at Carter Falls, Madcap Falls and Narada Falls. We returned to Paradise Camp and had lunch beside the river.  On the return trip, the trail was crowded from Carter Falls back to Cougar Rock.
