Day Hike - Wenatchee Ridge

A stunning hike through the hills just outside Wenatchee. Fields of flowers abound during this time of year and our hike leader, Richard DeBois, timed this hike perfectly. Every turn in the trail revealed a new view of amazing color. It got warm (81 degrees), but a nice breeze helped out.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The road to the trailhead starts in Wenatchee proper. The last 3 miles to the trailhead is unpaved, steep and required some slow going, but can be done in any vehicle.

The trails are well-marked and in excellent condition. Hikers share with cyclists, but every cyclist we encountered was polite and waited for us to get slightly off the trail to let them pass.

Because our hike was mid-week, the trails were not crowded. I would imagine it gets very crowded on weekends as the area is easy to get to and very beautiful.

The area is quite dry (both the ground and the air), so bringing plenty of water is a must.

Our trip leader was fantastic. He had scouted the best trails for flower viewing (there are tons of trail choices!) and the blooms cooperated nicely! Richard knows his flowers and learning more about the wildflowers of Eastern Washington was really fun for this hiker.
