Day Hike - Snow & Gem Lakes (Snoqualmie)

Truly beautiful with the first snow of the season. We had a blue sky day with views and the fall color we were looking for.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • This is  a rooty and rocky trail. There was snow on the trail once we crossed the overlook above the lake. It was mostly slushy and easy to manage. Water crossings were not  a problem. The log bridge to Gem Lake was not icy, if it had been, we wouldn't have crossed. Most of  us put on traction devices to head down from Gem Lake for a bit. The trail was melting out in the afternoon at lower elevations.

It was a beautiful sunny day if cold. The mountains were beautiful with the first snow cover. The fall color was really good, not all leaves have turned so there is more to come. We did bring traction devices and only needed them for a short bit just below Gem Lake.
