Both the Rampart Ridge and Wonderland trails are in great condition with only a couple of easy-to-pass downed trees. Very few cars at Longmire when we arrived at 8:30. No one was at the entrance checking passes.
A beautiful uncrowded day at our favorite park. The partially cloudy sky kept temps cool, but we did enjoy occasional peeks of sun! We did a counter-clockwise loop along the nature trail from Longmire, then connected with the Rampart Ridge trail. From the ridge we continued along the Wonderland Trail from Longmire to the log bridge across the Nisqually River just past Cougar Rock CG. The bridge was in great shape with a handrail. Instead of crossing the bridge, we spent some time observing all the boulders and tried to comprehend the immense power of past floods!
We logged 9 miles rt with 1,900' elevation gain. A fun, laid-back day in the mountains!
