Paved roads to either the north or south parking lots. The larger parking lot with pit toilets is at the south trailhead. The north trailhead has a less formal parking area with a porta-john.
This Hike Leader led a group of four from the south parking lot. We met at 7:50 AM on 12/15/2024 and were on the trail by 8 AM. Weather forecast was for temperatures in the 40's, cloudy, low chance of rain. The temps held, but the clouds began to break and there were patches of sky and sunshine peaking through.
There is a network of trails, roads, spurs, and other paths that wind up and around the mountain, so can do a bit of "choose your own adventure". People do ride bikes or horses on the roads but the trails appear to be for pedestrians. The trails are well marked, easy to follow, and in good condition. When we arrived at the summit, we were pleasantly surprised with this super cool tower that offered a commanding view of Enumclaw, Buckley, and the foothills leading to the shoulders of Mt. Rainier.
As you can see from this screen capture from Caltopo, access to the north or south trailheads is really clear. I believe that I had cell coverage the entire time, and you are no more than 15-20 minutes from "civilization", so you can grab coffee or food on the way in or out.
All in all, this is a great little hike. Not a lot of mileage but there is some significant elevation gain in places, especially the "Goat Trail" on the north-west aspect (not recommended as a descent route, for those not VERY comfortable with a little exposure, a steep root-congested trail, with few handholds.) We were done with the hike at noon.
