All trails were easily navigated, some with more rocks and roots than others. Because of that, definitely trails you would want to stop before taking in the views! Some wet grass and muddy spots. Easily hiked as long as you pay attention!
Roads to all three sites were good with adequate parking. No fees. The day started out somewhat foggy but cleared as the day progressed, with comfortable temps! Each of the three hikes was under 2 miles with minimal elevation gain. Views of the water, despite the fog.
Though Trinidad Bay was discovered in 1595, it wasn't until 1775 that Spanish explorers actually anchored in the bay and erected a stone cross (which is huge) on the summit, claiming Trinidad Head for Spain. The United States claimed the area in 1846 during the Mexican-American War when the United States conquered California, which subsequently became a state in 1850.
We observed much of the vegetation was the same as here in the PNW; however, there was more evergreen huckleberry and more large cascara. One new find was Footsteps of Spring!
