Trip Report

Day Hike - Norse Peak

A damp day, but a nice hike with wildflowers beginning to pop out. Worth doing even without views.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Excellent trail overall. Last mile is narrow and rocky, careful footing needed.

No rain starting out, just fog and mist. Rain began in earnest during the last hour up, with cold wind on the final stretch. Had nice close-up views of the clouds we were in on the summit. Visibility was fairly poor coming down from the top with no points of reference. Many game trails and boot paths gave us an interesting route finding challenge where map/compass came in handy. We decided to back-track to a known location and got right back on the bus. Round trip time was six hours including breaks and unplanned detours. Great trip, do it on a sunny day to get the most out of it.
