Day Hike - Lower Lena Lake

Beautiful day on this much-loved, early season, hike. The flowers are popping.

  • Road rough but passable
  • This trail can often be very wet but it has been dry enough lately that I was comfortable in my trail runners.  It is rocky and rooty underfoot.  A gentle incline with many switchbacks is doable by most people.

We arrived at the trailhead 8:30am on a beautiful spring weekend so it was no surprise that the parking lot was almost full with hikers and backpackers vehicles.  The Privy at the trailhead is locked.

flowers are out and with very little trash on the trail, it was a lovely hike in great weather.  I had not been out there since the two women were tragically killed by a falling tree this spring.  We stopped and remembered them at the newly erected memorial placed near the overlook.
