Day Hike - Lime Kiln Trail

An early spring hike on a relatively flat trail to a sandy beach on the Stillaguamish River

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail is is passable condition.  For hike leaders who have hiked this trail before.  The standing muddy puddles of water towards the end of the trail before arriving at trails end will not disappoint.  A few large blow-down trees, which have been there for years, are across the trail and are easily passable by walking underneath these trees.

Arrived at the trailhead ~8:30AM to four cars in the parking lot.  The portable toilet is still there.  The parking lot gravel surface is in good condition.  There are a few large pot holes on the dirt approach road before entering the parking lot and are passable with a low clearance vehicle.  The group departed the trailhead ~9:00AM with overcast weather.  The group arrived at the end of the trail at ~10:30AM.  The river level was high due to the spring snow melt runoff, but not high enough to cover the rocks at the "beach" where the group stopped for lunch.  After experiencing clear, cloudy skies accompanied by periods of rail and hail.  The group arrived back at the trailhead at ~1:00PM.
